I, being of sound mind and body, with the tiniest hint of insanity to keep things ~spicy~ propose to you, the Reader, this: Let’s do a rejection challenge together.
Now you propose this challenge. I'm sure I racked up that many in 2022, so this year I'm going for some acceptance! Knowing full well that said acceptance comes only after a bunch of rejections! BTW, I'm not sure I've read you interview a chef for your Substack. As a chef, I can speak of rejection and dejection, of setbacks and comebacks, and of course, have a 3-course meal thrown at me, emphasizing how bad they thought my food was. Yea, we are good at collecting rejections! Keep it up.
I’m in. I know the best way to focus is to pick one method, but I’m going with my current unfocused state and looking to total combined rejections via job applications, interviews, and submitting writing.
I’m in! Not strictly writing related, but I will smile - genuine, full body, eye contact smiles - at 100 unique individuals. I fully expect to receive 100 non-genuine smiles (“rejections”) back. Looking forward to be proven wrong
I’m in! I’ve decided to start counting from January bcs I received quite a memorable rejection in Jan that’s too good not to count. I’m in the middle of multiple ventures at the moment, so my accounting is going to be very broad.
Really appreciate the perspective this puts on the whole concept of rejection, esp in our creative and professional lives. Thanks for this challenge!

Thanks Ric! Hopefully you'll get some acceptances soon!
Dunno if I'll get to 100, but I'm in!
Heck yeah, love it!

We are so in sync. My goal for the year was 50 (so one a week).
oh hell yea! I am in!
Yesss love this!
I'm in! I have a stack of poems that need to find their way out into the world. 100 is a stretch for me, but I'll aim for it.
Awesome! It's less than 10 a month! We can do it!
I'd love to try this out.
